Books and Magazines
Publication Design and Typography were important classes in undergraduate. Using Adobe Photoshop, Illustrator, and InDesign, they taught me to create both in 2D and 3D. The 2D Element Book was completed in Publication Design. This was focused on my love of both architecture and nature. Using type in different kinds of fonts, sizes, and angles, it mirrors and incorporates the similarities in background images.
During this time, I also had a chance to explore my fascination and love of Graffiti Art. Taking my camera to downtown Atlanta, I seized the opportunity to collect hundreds of Graffiti pictures. I have featured only a select few of the pages from the magazine I put together. However, I did not stop in undergraduate with my passion for Graffiti, but continued on into my graduate degree to research and write about the pros and cons of the street art.
The last image is a magazine from Typography. I placed images in a black and white layout of an article: "Sifting through the Explicit and Colloquial." This project was completed near the very beginnings of my design endeavors and helped me focus on the layout of type and imagery using Adobe InDesign.
Advertising and Marketing
Near the end of my undergraduate degree, I explored the world of advertising and marketing. Below, are a small number of images and designs I created for both a company and an organization. Again, these projects used a combination of Adobe Photoshop, Illustrator, and InDesign.
The first project was completed in Publication Design. It "re-branded" a paint company. I chose Benjamin Moore. My theme was "beyond your highest expectations", in which I decided to use 5 different "high" elements: The Statue of Liberty, The Empire Building, an airplane, a hot air balloon, and a parachute. I then had to place the advertisement on both a billboard and a van.
The second project was completed in Design Strategy. We were assigned to help "re-brand" an organization with a market focused on diabetes awareness for the Hispanic population. I have included a small portion of the advertisements and brochures I completed for the organization in the image grid. I created 3 different logos and branded them according to the logo. Two of the logos can be seen under the Logos & E-Illustration page.
